I always have a couple favorites when I shoot a wedding or an engagement session and they always tend to be the ones that are moody or a little steamy. There's just so much emotion in those photos when my couples forget that the camera is there.
Most couples want their images to be sweet and happy. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE those. They feel like real life, real happiness... but I've been itching to do a session that's just dark, moody, romantic and a little steamy. Wink, wink ;) When I spoke with Jordyn and found out she was all in for a session like this I was pretty excited to try something a little different!
My dear friend and fabulous assistant, Amy, helped arrange a trip into the gorgeous hills of our Wild & Wonderful for this shoot. Any time we have to take four-wheelers to our location, it's going to be a good day :)
I hope you enjoy this (out of the KFP ordinary) session as much as I do.
I have loved this couple since our first meeting. They're laid back, thoughtful, fun and just all-around genuine people. Their wedding was in Weston West Virginia at Lambert's Winery. What a little gem tucked away right here in our wild & wonderful! They did the most precious first look before their sunset ceremony and finished the night off with dinner and dancing. It was seriously just a perfect day and I couldn't have asked for sweeter people.
From the perfectly thought out little details, to the unbelievably precious people... this day, rain and all, was a dream.

I kid you not, this wedding was an adventure! When my fabulous assistant (Amy) and incredible second shooter (Jenny) made the trip up the mountain to Canaan this past weekend, it was beautiful outside... not a cloud in the sky! The next morning we pulled back the curtains to snow on the ground. A LOT of snow on the ground.
When I first met Alex basically the only thing she wanted was for everyone to have a great time and for there to be snow. I swear, that girl may have wished hard enough that the rain that was coming turned to snow and made the resort into a winter wonderland. At least, we'll give her the credit for now :)
This couple is the perfect mix of kind and hilarious. They were thoughtful, easy going, and a dream to work with. The girls in the wedding party were all gorgeous and you could tell how much they adore Alex. They guys were... well, you'll see! ha!!
The moment I knew Alex and Shane were perfect for one another was when we were doing thier photos after the wedding. We only had about 10-15 minutes together so I was trying to squeeze in as much as possible. I said, "Guys can you get a little closer... touch each other." You'll see their reply to my request and why I knew they were such a good match.
It was a beautiful day filled with amazing people and some truly talented vendors. I feel so thankful and blessed that I got to be a part of it.
"touch each other." HAHAAAAA! They're not sarcastic at all... ;)
She's the cutest little thing on earth!

I grew up in a little town that I couldn't love more. I went to a high school that couldn't have been more perfect. I had the best group of friends that anyone could ever ask for. When you come from a place where everybody knows everybody, you can see people ten years later and just pick up where you left off.
When Heather contacted me and told me she and Jeremy were getting married, I think I actually squealed from excitement! I couldn't imagine a better match... why did they never date high school?! We got together for a consult and sat in a booth for hours and talked about high school, life now, and the ten years in between. They told me they wanted me to shoot their wedding and I was thrilled, beyond excited and so honored.
She told me they were getting married at The Maylon House (yes!) That they wanted the day to be beautiful but laid back and relaxed (yes!!) She also told me that she was growing her own flowers for the day (I have no words... how precious is she!)
When wedding day finally came, it was just how they had hoped. It was beautiful. There was so much joy that day... so much laughter. No one losing it over little things that went wrong, there was just happiness. She even played and sang to him! It was just a wonderful day.
A huge thank you to my friend, the wonderful Jenny of Jenny Reese Photography for contributing some gorgeous images to this wedding! Such talent & an absolute dream to work with.
